The Justice Academy of Türkiye is the central institution for judicial training in Türkiye. It has over twenty years of experience. It underwent major reforms under a new Law on the Justice Academy of Türkiye, dated February 13, 2025. This law modernised its structure and strengthened its mandate in line with international standards. As part of this reform, the Centre for Legal Research was established.

The Centre’s purpose is to serve as a key academic and research body. It aims to enrich the Academy’s scholarly work and support research, publication, and academic training alongside judicial education.

Article 8 of the Law outlines the Centre’s duties. First, the Centre cooperates with higher education institutions—especially universities—to develop joint academic and postgraduate programs. These programs help assistant judges, serving judges, and prosecutors specialise in key areas. Second, the Centre monitors legal and judicial developments. It identifies emerging needs, conducts scientific studies, and produces publications. Third, the Centre is authorised to engage in joint research with foreign institutions and international organisations. This strengthens our global academic exchange. Finally, the Centre contributes directly to the Academy’s educational mission. It organises courses and certificate programs across various fields of law.

The Centre is in active discussions with national and international organisations to establish partnerships.

It conducts scientific research through specialised academic committees. These committees focus on key legal issues that support both judicial practice and legal development.

The Centre publish two main journals. The Justice Academy of Türkiye Journal (TAAD) is a national, peer-reviewed journal published quarterly. International, peer-reviewed journal—Law and Justice Review—is published twice a year, in January and July. It accepts articles in English, German, and French and serves as a platform for global academic dialogue.

It supports the professional development of lawyers, judges, and prosecutors through targeted certificate programs on key legal issues.

Through its research, cooperation efforts, academic programs, and training activities, our Centre is committed to strengthening law-making and advancing legal scholarship both nationally and internationally.
